Fenrai stepped back, trying not to show his respect from the weapons...
"I... sorry, but I guess you will have to stay here. There was a murder in this city and you might be... one of the... suspected... so..."
He draw out a small wooden horn and sounded it in high voice. This should call the guards...

Colarian sighed, and sheathed his weapons. He may need to try and break out of the town. He wondered how many Clerics of Paerai where here, that he could count on, and considered sending a message to the elves. Maybe they had spies here, that he could talk to. After a moment of plotting his potential escape, he started to get curious about the murder. What happened?

The militia carrying on the function of guards arrived in a moment. They were all mounted with rider spears and encirled Colarian, aiming with their weapons points on him.
"Whats your name, stranger? You got the choice of talking or-..."
"Hey, stop it!" spoke Fenrai to them. "He is from there, but..."
"Still he is one of these almost no one knows here and thus potentional murderer." turned the leader of group on him "Hey, you!" he spoke to Colarian "Im sorry, but you should give all your weapons to us. I recommend you will not try to act against us, as that would prove your guilt I think. If youre innocent, then...?" He extended his hand against Colarian, waiting for the weaponry.
Almost immediately after the guards came Kinether. He was taking his steps forcefully, almost marching...
"Fenrai! Were leaving Quoa right now, both you and me!" he headed toward the complex around the shrine "but I need to speak with you first! Come here!" he waved. Fenrai followed him, still turning back on Colarian... there was something strange on that man.
Kinether entered the complex and went through the corridor to talk to one of the mages. He realised they are watching Colarian from the windows...
"Where is everyone! What is happening?" he still wasnt in a good mood certainly.
"Kinether... if you think a bit about it... maybe he is..."
"Are you talking about that... whatever... paladin?"
"Yes."
"Maybe Im not right. Maybe Im wrong. In everything! I dont know who or what to believe, but..."
"Sir?" Fenrai stepped out of the shades behind him. "Whats happening?"
"An attack. From Urgor. Someone sneaked into the city and killed guards captain. Do you got an idea what it means?" he looked on the mages.
"A war?" guessed one of the mages.
"Precisely. Urgor was enough hostile to us so far, but we were ignoring it because of the trade. But now... it has ended. We must do something about it! In fact Ive come here to ask for a help from the sorcerers guild of Quoa!"
Silence.
Fenrai knew that it cannot mean anything good... and he was right. Soon the mage replied.
"Im sorry, Kinether. Even that you were... or maybe still count yourself as one of us, we... have to ask that paladin who came."
"WHAT!"
"As you said, he may be the right chosen of the Paerai... or also not. But stzill, if he IS, then his order should be more important to us than yours."
"Then will you just let the others die as he did! Just stand there and say: its not my problem as he did?" He understood the mage. But still... it was just the feeling of treachery.
"Maybe yes, if it will be the will of Paerai. But you should also do what he wishes if you call yourself a sorcerer, or not?"
"If all the sorcerers are arrogant creatures that dont care about others and just watch how-... whatever!" he turned angrily and walked outside the room, followed by Fenrai.
He stood near the inner window of the complex, watching paerais statue in the shrine in the middle... it took a while until Fenrai dared to speak with him.
"Are we leaving Quoa without them, then?" asked the scout.
"Probably." replied Kinether, still trying to hide his anger.
The conversation again stopped for several long minutes.
"Fenrai, if the war starts... well it alread started, probably..." Kinether started this time "I want you to depart The Plains."
"What!"
"It will be no more safe in here. And what more... we need more informations about the other races. I though that while I will depart to Nerai, you could go to the south... or south-east."
"But si-..."
"No sirs. We need to know something more about the elves and those barbarians that attacked us. And you are the quickest and the most reliable who I know."
"But-!"
"...and one scout is less obvious than a squad of horsemen. You depart tomorrows morning. When you will get something valuable... return to Nerai. Thats all for now."
"Bu-"
"From now every city will have its messengers."
This killed the scouts last argument. Fenrai sighted. "Then... Im... going, sir!" he saluted Kinether and walked out from the complex.

Colarian shook his head. "This sword was given to me by Paerai himself, and I would die before surrendering it to anyone. And if that's what you want it to come to, so be it. However, I must warn you," Colarian reached under his shirt and pulled out his two pendants."Both the Elves and the Dwarves consider me a friend, I doubt that either of them will take kindly to my murder. Not to mention, the Gur'ai are allied with the elves." After a pause Colarian continued. "And, I doubt Paerai would be all too pleased... So, do you really want my sword?"

The guards hesitated what to reply. it was quite certain that Colarian got unusual equipment which would suit the describtion of anyone they should take with them...
Before their leader could reply one of the clerics from the shrine complex walked out.
"How can you obtain a weapon from a god, tell me?"

"He gave it to me, because before that all I had was a poor quality Urgor-made sword, and you can't have a representative of a god fighting with that!"

The word Urgor drove the guards spears close against him again. But the cleric acted against...
"Hey, Turai, wait a moment!" he raised his hand and the guards moved back a bit. "Not everyone with metal weapon in here is our enemy. Some of the soldiers from Nerai got swords too..." he turned back to Colarian "...and this blade would have Urgor marks on it if it would be from there, for sure.
But I have to ask you... where is your old sword. Got it any special features? Because we found one with gems in its hilt and it got some runes encraved into its blade, that is from Urgor too, probably." he described the found sword wrongly on purpose.

"I left that old blade by the Shrine of Paerai when he gave me this one. Someone has probably taken it by now, though. And no, it wasn't fancy. My family wasn't rich enough to afford a jewel-studded blade." Colarian paused a moment, then spoke again. "If you think this is sword is Urgor made, I can prove it isn't. Godforged blades are extra hard and sharp, and are very light. If you bring me the hardest thing in this town, I can probably slice it in half in one quick blow. Well, with the exception of stone, but I'm sure some weak swords, I could."

"Im not talking about this sword." he pointed on Colarians weapon "Its sure this one isnt, because all the Urgor forgers put similar marks on their products. And I dont want you prove anything with this blade. I need closer describtion of that your old blade - and when have you left it in the shrine."

Colarian thought. "Bastard sword, unadorned, heavy, low quality... And I left it at the shrine... Must be at least two months ago now."

"I see theres no point in trying to ask you for a describtion."
He nodded on the way into the complex and one of the other mages brought the sword that was found in the guardhouse.
"Is this it or not?"

Colarian shook his head. "No, it isn't, can I go now?"

The mage gave the sword back to his fellow and turned to guard leader.
"I think thats enough for it, Turai. Go and search for the real one."
He waited until the guards disappeared in the down streets and spoke to the paladin "If you are the real one chosen by Paerai, i think we shall follow you then, Colarian..."

Colarian shook his head. "Continue with your life, but spread the word where you can, that I am the Paladin of Fire, so that all true followers of Paerai know who I am, and will help if I need it."
