When fighting here in Elandir, you follow a very specific system. Combat is mostly writing-based, and the best writer wins. But the best writer keeps these rules in mind: NEVER say you hit, or write any damage when fighting another player. Some NPCs that aren't important this is ok. Over the course of a fight, you tend to get tired, so you can't do as much as you could previously, keep that in mind.
Duels A duel between two players will usualy be in this format: Player 1 Attacks Player 2 Defends, then attacks. Player 1 Defends, then attacks. player 2 defends, then attacks. player 1 defends. There will be three judges (agreed upon both contestants) , and at the end of the duel, the judges decide on, through voting, the best duelist, basing their choice on writing skill. At this point, the victor posts again, this time they get to write a previously agreed upon amount of damage (if it's a death duel, they kill them, if not, it's just an injury), and the winner receives any reward agreed upon at the start of the duel.

can i point out that some writers will not be as skilled as others so the writers skill should take a back seat when deciding on who wins a dual.
and may i also suggest a new skill, stamina to represent how long you can continue to fight/ parry before you become tired.

Well, it'll be a combination of things. Writing skill would play a part, I mean, who wins here:
Bob stabs jack.
Jack glares at Bob, seething with hatred. He draws out his blade, and prepares himself for the battle to come. Seeing Bob's attack, he twists his blade to the side, deflecting the stab. In the same fluid motion, Jack slashes forward, aiming for Bob's neck.
... Obviously, Jack's was a much more interesting read. At the same time, if all you ever do is your standard slash, then it will get boring, and you might not win. Where as if you took advantage of your surroundings and used them to aid you, you'd be more likely to win. Skills would still definently have an effect, but not one that can't be overcome. A non-experienced character can beat an experienced one if they're clever enough. Also, the better writers and more clever players tend to level faster anyways...

oh i see what you mean, i thought it was actualy how well the person writes not how well they use their surroundings and further details on exactly what they are doing....
and also i still cant do admin things ahah

Admins are gods OOCly only, for now. (We haveto decide as a group is something was done wrong, then we log onto one of the god's accounts XD)

Rules for the desert Duals
The desert Duals are fought to prevent conflict and often decide the outcome of a conflict as an alternative to war which is difficult between clans. As such a Dual system was created to adhere to the Gur'ai honourable nature.
1) First to agree if it is blood Dual, to the death, or Life Dual, to first blood. 2) Second is to lay the prize or conditions, if a player loses he must give up somthing it may be his army leaves or a valuable item is given over. 3) These Duals are blade only, one sword no other equipment may be used. 4) No Magic, magical items or Armour may be used and no outside interference is allowed.
Failure to comply with these rules results in the Duals forfiet and armies may clash or bodyguards attack...
