Al'tria stood over looking the dense forest from a small hill. He had become frustrated, his men were not used to such a cool climate and the amount of water was odd for many of his men, one even nearly drawned when he fell in gathering water. In three days they had been in the forest there was no sign of the elven city and Al'tria was beggining to worry. He had forgotten to pray to the gods this may be his punishment? None the less he stood looking from his vantage point in the hope of glimpsing the city...

The elves watched these humans from their perches in the trees. Only a few of them had seen the desert in their long lives, and they all thought the humans strange. Eventually, the leader of that troop of elves had decided that the humans had wandered along aimlessly for long enough. Although they where a small band of humans, the elf could tell they where the dangerous sort (as most humans where, since they worshiped fire), so he sent out for reinforcements. As the final elves moved into position, there where now two hundred total in the area, fifty blademasters on the ground, a hundred rangers scattered through out the trees, and even some clerics and sorcerers ready, should there be blood. With one quick hand signal to show that he was ready, he jumped down to the ground, with the typical elven grace, using branches to keep the fall from being damaging. Approaching the man that seemed like the likely leader, the elven commander bowed, then addressed Al'tria. "Welcome, human, to the forests of Elvandir, I hope you have not had too much trouble here so far." The elven captain spoke in fluent Kartara, all the while thankful he had taken the time to learn the languages of the other species.

Al'tria seemed unsurprised by the sudden appearance he had heared from other Gur'ai people that the elves often appeared from no-were but the use of the language of the desert was an astonishing thing for them. He raised his hand and clenched his fist as behind him his warriors put hands of their spears and opened their light coloured cloaks to reveal their light bone armour and assortment of knives and each carried a Sharai. Al'tria then looked to the elf and replied in Karata "You took your time warrior of the trees, we have come to talk to whom ever leads your tribe not to shed blood but if we must we will defend ourselves and trust we are not as clumsy as those humans that dwell in the green lands". He patiently awaited a response knowing no combat would take place but he needed to remain ready......

Looking past Al'tria, the elf spoke to the soldiers. "I do not doubt your skill with those weapons, but I would advise you relax none the less. There are three hundred of my brethren hiding in these trees, healers and sorcerers amongst them, and should the battle turn sour, thousands more would be on your train before you found the edge of this forest. So please, relax, put your hand by your side, and enjoy the hospitality of the elves, while you are still on good terms with us." Turning back towards Al'tria, the elf said "We elves only reveal ourselves when ready. I hope your patience has not worn thin. We will set out immediately for Tel'gathir, but first, tell me, do you like leaves? Your weary men can snack on our nutritious foods and drink our healing waters while we walk." The elf reached behind him, and when he extended his arms again, one hand held a few green leaves, and the other a vial containing a liquid that seemed like water, except it had a pronounced bluish-white tint to it. "Tael!" He shouted, and elves walked out from hiding in the trees, each one in turn providing leaves and a healing potion to the travelers. "Thank you in advance, for accepting this gift, and trusting our honor in not simply poisoning you."

The warriors relaxed taking the gift without complaint. Al'tria felt confused, what was a leaf he thought but none the less he accepted and ate. He almost grimaced with the taste but kept control and drank the liquad, not much better tasting but he felt more relaxed and complete after he had drank. He quickly spoke again in Karata "We must speak with your leader it is of great importance or i would not have come myself and we have already wasted three turnings of the sun". Quickly the group led by the elves made their way to the great city of the elves Tel'Gathir....
