Alkartir got out of his throne, the restless elf walked to the center of the room. "I can't stay!" The others in the room gave him a curious look, and walked over to him. "What do you mean, dear? Are you having a vision? Some sorcerers have visions..." Alkartir's mother, Ylthira said. Ilthir shook his head. "No Ylthira, he's not having a vision. He's tired of this place. He's young, he wants to travel, see the world." Ilthir was a wise wizard, and Alkartir's adviser. Alkartir nodded. "Yes, I want to see, to grow, to learn. I can't stay! I must go see the world." "Not while I still have a say! You are the prince, you must lead."Ylthira reminded. Sighing, Alkartir turned to Ilthir. "Adviser Ilthir, great wizard of the Elven Race, I hereby declare you steward of the Elves in my absence. You are to keep magical watch, and communication with me while I am gone, you promise to faithuly uphold my will while I cannot. Now, mother, Ilthir will keep the forests in peace while I go, all the long watching over me. I will go." "Not alone, you won't!" In her old age, Ylthira had grow protective of Alkartir, who thought that his magical prowess would be more then enough to keep him safe. She turned towards one of the guards at the door. "Go find ten blademasters, five clerics, and five wizards!" Turning back to Alkartir she said, "Alkartir, deal, you can go and see the world, it will help you learn. A king must know about the world he lives in." Alkartir scowled, "I'm not going out with a full escort! No, I will be like an adventurer of old, guard, find me four others like me to go out!" Ylthira waved her hand in the direction of the guard. "Stay. Alkartir, I will not have you die beside four other inexperienced children." Alkartir sighed. "Fine. A blademaster, a cleric, and any other young elves who want to see the world." ((Anyone who wants in on a likely epic adventure, make an elven alt and post your entrance here. Note: Epic = experience!! ))

On their way to Tal'gathir, the elf explained that the leaves where from the trees of this forest, and that they where very nutritious, and that other travelers through the forest had claimed that the leaves gave them energy. He also explained that the 'water' was a healing potion that most elves can make, and it should give them more energy, and heal any small cuts. As they approached the city, the captain pointed out many of the hidden houses, and the academy, which from the ground seemed to go on for a very long time (and indeed it did, but the ground view exaggerated it). After a little further walking, he lead them to one tree, that although it looked like most of the other trees, it was shaped in a way that it could simply be walked up, a strange feature. The captain started to climb it, gesturing for Al'tria to follow. "House Madyrdadi is one of the few buildings in Tal'gathir that you can get in without any climbing skill."
Inside the throne room, Alkartir was sitting on his throne, playing with a lick of fire dancing around his hand, while stroking his chin with the other hand, contemplating asking Ilthir to cast a spell on him so he could grow a small beard.

Al'tria stood before the elven leader and spoke in common with a heavy karata accent "Good day lord of the elven tribe, we are here to negotiate a deal between our peoples i am lord Al'tria II of the Gur tribe supreme ruler of the sands". He awaited a reply noting the skill of the man, he wondered if he was Rhuidi either way it offered a good opertunity to strike the deal he needed. He turned and motioned for his warriors to wait outside but his two guards with Huras stood still behind him. He turned back and awaited a reply from the elven lord....

Alkartir gestured to a guard, saying, "Tas, vaeri." ('Chairs, please.')as he did. A moment later the guard came back with three wooden, but very ergonomically designed, chairs for the guests. Alkartir noted the light clothes the men weared. Gur'tai, likely. he thought. "Tell me, what brings you to Tal'gathir, so far from your own lands?" Alkartir said in the common tongue of the plains humans, mentally reminding himself to learn more languages.

Al'tria sat upon the chair still feeling odd and out of place as in Gur'ai there was nothing known as a chair but still he forced himself to remain formal as he spoke in the common tongue "We come from the sands to negotiate with you for food for our people are in need and our lands do not allow for us to grow more". He sat and suddenly remembered he had been taught the location of Rhuidian the place were Rhuidi were trained, surely it could be of use to this elf who displayed skill with the Runes? He went for the offer and spoke in the common tongue "We have much to offer, including guidance to a place that you call....a power source, our Rhuidi use it to learn the Runes often". He smiled and inside he knew an elf wouldnt pass this up. He spoke back to his guards "Tel'kar fur'mara kilter menthir'ista" (Bring forth the maps)....

"The elves have ample leaves that we could give you. I assure you, they are a very healthy food, if not the most flavorful to non-elves, but we do not usually have meats, as we only hunt for leather." Alkartir said, somewhat uncomfortable talking in a language that was native to either of them. A power source? That's a lot to bargain with, perhaps they don't know the true nature of what a sorcerer does with one of those... Surely he would not let such a sacred place be consumed for some food. The thought intrigued him, but he tried not to show it. "Your city is on the ocean, is it not?"

Al'tria looked confused and made no effort to hide it, what was an Ocean he thought to himself as he noticed the elven lord let out a small smile not enough for most to see. He knew he had his deal and so quickly replied "What is an ocean? That is unfamiliar to me..." He remained stumbled as he tried to puzzle out what an ocean maybe....
*Note that water is not common in the desert so such terms are different to Gur'ai as value water alot more than others.

Alkartir gave a somewhat confused look to Al'tria, then turned to a guard and said, "Kai thaer Ilthir, eil shol ei sardi eil ei jhasi shyrn os sharaes." (Go fetch Ilthir, and bring a table and a large bowl of water.) A moment later Ilthir entered the room with the guard, carrying a bowl of water, and the guard had a small table. They placed the objects in front of Al'tria. "Ilthir, show our friends the ocean." Alkartir said, and Ilthir noded. With a few chanted words, he waved his hand over the bowl, and the water stilled, then became opague, and then the view of the ocean east of Elvandir could be seen. "This is an ocean," Alkartir said. "Do you recognize it?"

Al'tria looked astonished and he was almost speachless nothing like that could be done by the Rhuidi. He stood slowly and bent down toward the bowl to look closer, after a short inspection he looked up and spoke "This....this...what you call magic, i have never seen anything like it". He waited a few more moments admiring the feat before realising he had been asked a question and swiftly replied "Yes, yes i recognise it is the pure land it gives us little food and salts to preserve our little meat.....you call it an...an ocean?"

Alkartir nodded. "Aye, we call it an ocean. There are many fish in oceans, and we could teach you to build boats capable of bringing in a lot of these fish, which make quite good food, or so the plains humans say. We have very good wood here in Tal'gathir. Knowledge for knowledge. And maybe a few elven made boats. We could sell you the leaves cheaply." After a brief pause Alkartir added, "Oh, and in addition to the boats, I could send a few elves with you, to teach you Elvish, and your wizards a few new spells."

Al'tria took the maps from one of his guards and handed them to Alkartir as he spoke "It is a deal, we will buy food and...boats and in return those maps show how to reach our city and towns for you will not make it to the power source without our aid". He smiled still half shocked from the magical display recently given as he began to put his light coloured cloak back on for the journey back to the sands.....

Alkartir nodded. "It's a deal then. I'll send a wizard along with you to guide you out of the forest, and teach you and your people what he can. Merchants will bring you the lumber, and some leaves that you could buy cheaply. Thank you for your wisdom, war would have cost us all far too much." With a little wave of his hand sent out two guards. "Oh! One more thing. As a gift to promote peace, I will send along one of my more experienced Blademasters with you, he could show you a few of our sword techniques." One of the guards stepped forward, bowing before Al'tria. "His name is Yhiltera, he will train you, protect you, and fight any battle for you that does not harm the elves or our allies. Please respect the elven need to not stand still and at attention for long periods of time." ((He will guard Al'tria without complaint, but behaving like one of the guards at the palace of the English queen will not do, elves are followers of wind, after all. Also, this guard was specifically selected because he know Kartara, for convenience's sake.)) An elven wizard in flowing green robes entered the room, then greeted Alt'ria. "Hail, Lord of the Deserts." The wizard said, in perfect Kartara.

Al'tria smiled and spoke back to the wizard in Karata "I thank you lords of the tree filled land". He turned to Alkartir and spoke in common once more "I thank you lord of the elves you are far too generous, from this day forth you have only to send word and the warriors of the sands will aid you". With that he stood and gave a bow before turning to leave through the doors too his men....

Kiam walked through the large doors of the court room puzzled over the many armed warriors outside. He bowed before the elven lords and spoke in fluent elven "Im i interrupring somthing, there must be fifty men out there?". Master Silver leaf followed behind him and took one of the elven lords aside from the rest of the court and spok in hushed tone so no one could hear "He is remembering...."

Alkartir looked up at Kaim. "Ah! Kaim, this is Al'tria, the leader of the Gur'tai, the humans from the desert. We just negotiated peace and trade."
((Sorry for the size, I'm not feeling so well at the moment...))
