Kiam had become bored in his bed chamber sitting, waiting for any news on the elves that had marched east to defend the forest boundaries. The night before he had remembered when he had beat master Silver Leaf….it disturbed him knowing that it was true, he truly had lost his memory how else could he have thrown an elf that had been training him for so long.
He dismissed his thoughts determined now more than ever to regain his lost mind. He had visited one of the old sorcerers of the elves, master Elainder an older sorcerer who had left the court. Master Elainder had said learning and travelling with a clear mind, a free mind would attract his lost memories then he could finally find out his old fate.
He looked up at the pair of doors made from the wood of elven trees, it looked as if grown from the frame that held it swirling with patterns of dancing warriors of old. He nodded almost to himself and pushed the doors open and walked through into a large room with weapon racks covering each wall. Within were 10 elven warriors paired and sparring each other, practising swordplay in a training regime apparently designed by himself before he lost his memory.
The Elves stopped their training and looked to him, no one ever saw him train he refused too unless with master Silver Leaf but never Master Kuraina the chief trainer. He walked slowly toward Kuraina and spoke slowly almost unsure of how to say it “Master Kuraina, I have come to train.” The Elves within the room all looked surprised dressed in their leaf scale armour but Master Kuraina merely stood and smiled before replying “Kiam you have done our race a service but have never trained to regain your lost skill, why now?”
Kiam considered the question before answering, after a few moments he replied “Because I now know what I need to do, to find out who I am, who I was….” Master Kuraina smiled and pointed to an Elf named Liera, he was young and Kiam knew him and had watched him train. Without any words spoken Liera stepped onto a training mat as the other elves continued to train. Kiam stepped onto the mat and took up his chosen moonblade.
After hours and hours of constantly being defeated Master Kuraina spoke “Kiam, you are troubled, forget everything clear your mind and let your inner spirit take control…..you said it to me once, do it….” Kiam listened and took in a deep breath. He relaxed his arms once more, then his body and emptied his mind of worry, concern and all emotion. He closed his eyes and felt as if something was taking over, some inner spirit of some kind some lost skill. Liera once more moved in, his blade an almost invisible swirl as it came toward Kiam. Kiam had always fallen, always been defeated by a strike like this one but this time, almost instinctively his blade came up his eyes still closed as Lieras blade struck upon Kiams.
Liera looked surprised as he looked to his master, the master simply nodded and Liera leaped back before lunging with his blade in a flurry of motions. Kiam his eyes still closed shut dodged a first blow as he ducked bellow a second and began to parry countless blows and assaults from Liera. After what seemed forever Liera pulled back before launching another assault his blade almost invisible but this time Kiam ducked bellow the blow and blocked Lieras sword arm with his own before resting the blade at Lieras throat.
Master Kuraina smiled broadly as all the other Elves stood speechless. Kuraina dismissed Liera and called forth another Elf, one named Avaindha, she was top of the class at sword play and Kurainas favourite. Kiam studied her, she was young not passed 70 which was young by elven standards. Her hair was almost golden and flowed down past her shoulders and she moved with a mysterious yet mystical elegance.
Without waiting she smiled and her clear blue eyes almost lit up as she lunged forward with her blade. Kiam leaped back and smiled, he leaped forward launching his own attack as his blade swirled in the air. Avaindha went to block and stood shocked as she realised it was a faint and Kiams blade rested pointed to her chest. Master Kuraina smiled as Kiam fell back his body suddenly in pain from the hundreds of bruisers and cuts received from the many many hours of constant swordplay.
Master Kuraina helped him up and Kiam watched as Avaindha left through the doors to the training room. Kuraina spoke “Kiam, do you believe now you are remembering”. Kiam looked to the floor and closed his eyes as his mind began to be a sea of pain and he fainted.
Kiam stood in a cavern atop some mountain that he could not recall. He saw a warrior dressed in light armour made of mythril and wearing a cloak of deep purple which almost flew in the harsh winds. The warrior stood looking into the cavern with long hair blowing in the wind.
The warrior walked into the cavern and Kiam followed…..
After following for what seemed hours in the dark caverns the warrior entered a huge chamber. The warrior called out in some unknown language but Kiam knew the voice, it was himself.
After moments of waiting from an open hole in the roof a huge dragon like creature leaped down. Its scales were pure red and it beared many scars from passed battles as its fiery eyes scanned the warrior Kiam. It spoke in an unknown language and in seconds the warrior Kiam drew a blade that seemed to glow. The blade was long, like a bastard sword, it beared many runes that glowed in fiery colours and the hilt was pure mythril he guessed the blade was too but enchanted by some spell.
As the dragon roared and an inferno of flames erupted from its maw the warrior Kiam extended his sword and the flames surrounded him. When the flames retreated the warrior Kiam stood in the sae spot not even a burn on his shining armour as he leaped toward the dragon his blade a lightning bolt in a storm as he ran up the dragons chest and drove it cleanly in the beasts heart.
The Dragons cry echoed in the cavern as the warrior Kiam walked from the body a single trophy a dragons took. Kiam looked down at his necklace, a dragons tooth then watched as the Warrior Kiam walked to the exit and the dragons form changed into that of a man dressed in flowing black robes. The man in black extended his hand and a green ray of light surrounded the warrior Kiam and he fell to the ground his blade went flying driving itself into the ground.
Kiam gasped as he awoke Master Kuraina above him saying worriedly “Are you ok!”. Kiam took his time to take his breath and replied “I am remembering…..”
