Urain stood before master Elainda the head trainer of the white blades. He had been watched by the white blades since he was born and his mother died, and his father left. He was Half Elf and although none showed it he was part elf and he could see the few elves look at him differently than they did to others.
Master Elainda took the 4 candidates in his class outside beyond Tal'gathir into the forest of Elvandir. He showed them all the different leaves and plants that could be eaten or used in potions that could benefit them beyond the forests, but also he showed examples of plants beyond the forest and how they could be used.
The class spent a few days studying and making potions, identifying plants and leaves before passing a small test in making basic healing potions, master Elainda said it was the most important lesson if they were to serve the Elves beyond the forest.
The next day upon waking the class had to meet in the forest were they studied plants but this time they were given a course. They had to find specific plants within the forest along a specific route, then they had to race to find them and return to the master. Urain had come second, running was not good for him as he was not full elf and it showed as he was not as fast as others.
They spent a full day doing these tests before returning the next day. They then spent the next few weeks in endurance tests, running through the forests, climbing trees and finaly learning to use the upper sections of trees to move rather than the ground.
After a few days rest the class returned to the training room in the academy. They were given mock blades, moonblades and taught the more advanced techniques as each had already been taught the basics before they enrolled as white blades. Urain of course lacked the grace of the elves and was given permissions to use a pair of scimitars once owned by his mother and father before their departure and he showed promise in duels against the other 3 candidates.
They spent weeks learning swordplay while still training in the forests in endurance tests, they spent most of the day dueling before running and Urain was more gifted in swordplay although not as good as others his human half showed in sword play as he was fast, yet still showed superior strength in combat.
After another few days of rest and after months of training they were taught to use knives. It was a basic course but one Urain excelled at, they learnt to throw and to use them in combat in a special form in which feints were used to mask sudden attacks to cut a foes arteries and it was this that took Urain above other candidates, he was the best with knives and took this to a whole new level in free form duels in which blades and knives were used.
They then went on to learn the arts of archery, the single art which elves were the most naturaly above other races. Urain was not the best, he could still hit targets at reat distances and with a decent degree of acuracy but he could never hope to be above the rest of the class.
The next few years were spent practising and further learning, any said Urain showed a resemblance to the warrior with the lost memory Kiam when in combat, but Kiam always refused to fight the young Urain.
Urain was walking through the elven city, he had finished the days endurance test and wished to spend the rest of his day sleeping in his small room but somthing caught his eye, the shrine of Eis.
He didnt understand it, a voice in his mind spoke telling him to move closer he didnt know why but then he moved closer as if pulled in by some magical force, pulled ever closer to the shrine of the elven goddess.
He heard a voice in his head, a women, an elven women speaking "Do you Urain, half elven, half human one i have watched, would you wish to become my avatar on the mortal plain to enforce my teachings and my will in the mortal realm and to maintain balance were others wish to destroy?"
Urain was confused, he had heared of Avatars of Eis, paladins of Air some called them. He thought carefully, his future as a whiteblade wouldnt be as exciting as a life serving Eis as he nodded slowly and spoke "Yes, yes goddess i agree to become your Avatar on earth."
He knew what would happen, he would be joined to the goddess but something strange happened, a swirling mass of wind moving so fast it looked like a mass of white cloud as it surrounded his right arm. He felt no pain as the wind cut into his arm, it felt good he thought as the wind carfully cut into him.
As the wind fled he looked down, in his arm engraved was the teaching of Eis, scarred into his right arm was written the prophecy of Eis....he was now a Paladin.....
